Sommelier Doug Smith
Sommelier Doug Smith is an advocate of good food and wine. Pairing food with unique wines from different regions around the world is Doug’s passion. He has been a student of wine and viticulture his entire life. Over the years, Doug has participated in numerous, prestigious wine education programs, from coast to coast, including classes with esteemed wine educator, Kevin Zraly; pairing courses at the renowned CA winery, Far Niente; The Master and Makers Food & Wine Experience in Napa, CA; sensory classes with Riedel Glass Company, and most recently, an online master class with world-renowned wine critic, James Suckling. Doug’s thirst for knowledge has been the motivation behind all of his wine-related travels to every major wine–producing region in the US; with his exploration now extending into Europe. In 2020, Doug pursued one of his lifelong goals and became a Level 2 Certified Sommelier with Distinction. Doug designs and conducts wine tastings for all levels of interest, from beginner to expert. His philosophy is that wine does not have to be intimidating; that it is meant to be enjoyable to your own personal palate; and quite simply, it should be fun to experience! He is thrilled to be a part of the @Home Meal Experience Team. Each week Doug thoughtfully pairs accessible wines from around the world with each featured chef’s menu. His devotion to creating incredible pairings for the @Home community adds to the unparalleled @Home dining experience.
