About Chris

Chris is the Chef and Owner of four small restaurants in Queen Village, Philadelphia. Ambra Restaurant Group (ARG) is a partnership between husband and wife, Chris D’Ambro and Marina de Oliveira who first met working together in 2011 as part of the opening staff of Talula’s Garden. They went on to run one of the best farm to table destination restaurants in the world, Flora Farm, MX. In 2015 the couple moved back to Philadelphia where they re-opened an iconic cocktail bar and locally inspired restaurant, Southwark, named for the neighborhood now known as Queen Village. Since 2016, they opened a modern Italian tasting menu concept, Ambra which earned 3 bells from the Philadelphia Inquirer’s food critic, Craig Laban, national press came in 2019 when Open Table named Ambra on their “Top 100 List.” ARG also owns Olly, a casual family restaurant and a Neapolitan pizza shop named Gigi Pizza, after Chris’ mother. All four locations are located within three blocks of one another in a neighborhood known for its shopping, historically know as Fabric Row.
